MOONBEAU
BIO / INFO
MOONBEAU
the captivating synth-pop duo whose love story is ripped straight from a John Hughes screenplay.
Christian Gough (guitar/vox) and Callie Budrick (keys/vox) are the husband-wife duo redefining retro pop with their signature blend of irresistible melodies, catchy hooks, and undeniable charisma. Rooted in Cincinnati's city lights and Northern Kentucky's rural landscapes, Moonbeau's music is as expansive as the city skyline and as intimate as a night drive on winding back roads.
Influenced by their love of '80s new wave artists like New Order and The Human League, as well as modern acts like St. Lucia, CHVRCHES, and Nation of Language, Moonbeau creates a nostalgic sound that's fresh, familiar, and utterly addictive. Their music emanates a dreamy and infectious quality, drawing on the rich palette of synthpop to create lush textures that serve as the foundation of their sound.
Their music is a journey through emotions—a soundtrack for the highs and lows of life, all wrapped up in a shimmering pop package.
SOMETHING THEY KNOW ALL TOO WELL
The duo spent more than ten years orbiting around each other and hiding their teenage feelings behind phone calls and late-night drives. Sounding more like a rom-com than real life, Moonbeau's story of love, loss, and longing weaves its way into their heartfelt lyrics, layered guitars, and swooning harmonies. Their live performances with bandmates Alex Murphy-White (drums) and Kyle Kubiak (bass/guitar) are a testament to their chemistry, creating an atmosphere where the audience can't help but get lost in the music.
Celebrated by their community, Moonbeau has won three Cincinnati Entertainment Awards for Best Electronic (2018 + 2019) and Best Album (2018). Moonbeau has shared the stage with established acts such as COIN, k.flay, PUBLIC, Cindy Wilson, In the Valley Below, Com Truise, Chad Valley, flor, and Bad Veins. Festival performances include US @ Urban Outfitters, Midpoint Music Festival, Bunbury, Brite Winter, Hell's Half Mile, Beaver Island Music Festival, and BLINK.
